Pastoral Letter from the Council of Presidents of the Inter- Religious Council of Uganda

We, the Council of Presidents of the Inter-Religious Council of Uganda (IRCU) on behalf of the religious fraternity take this opportunity to share with you our concerns in the fight against HIV & AIDS.
We greet you in the name of Peace and thank God for taking care of us and the country as a whole ever since we became one nation. Whenever we pray and intercede for our country, we always think about our people, and especially those who have died as a result of this HIV & AIDS disease and those that have been affected in one way or the other. We ask God to grant us the strength and wisdom to overcome this challenge. Download PDF

The prevalence rates i.e. proportion of Ugandans, age 15-49, who are infected with HIV has risen and now stands at 7.3% (and even higher in women at 8.3%), up from 6.4% in the 2004-05 survey. The results of the 2011 Uganda AIDS Indicator Survey (UAIS) indicated that 7.3 percent of adults aged 15 to 49 years in the country were infected with HIV.Download PDF
